Sumo had some great decor! Added to the experience. Didnt expect it, as we were just in a strip mall. Food was great, we went for the hibachi and wow do you get a lot of food. The onion soup was very flavorful, and the entree itself was good as well. Only negative for me is that our server kind of just disappeared and we were waiting for some additional items for a while.

    Would definitely reccomend.

Really good, consistent food. My kids love it. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive, but a bit pokey sometimes. Hibachi and sushi chefs are solid, hibachi routine is standard.

Sushi on Monday is often not up to par, but that is to be expected in small town central N.Y.. Very generous serving sizes on hibachi dinners (rice AND noodles!), and good quality proteins.

My biggest complaint is that when you order a hibachi dinner TO GO, you do NOT get the soup, salad, noodles or sauces; all of those come with the dine-in hibachi dinner. I get it would be a plastic nightmare and all those to go containers aren't free, but it is a lot of not includeds for the price.

To be fair, more like a 4.7 stars. The small deduction is due to there not being a changing table in the men's bathroom, and the one in the women's was a bit wobbly so I was worried it may collapse.

The rest of the review: five stars all the way. I enjoyed our time at Ithaca Sumo Japanese Hibachi and Sushi immensely. All of the staff were so sweet and kind, our service was incredibly prompt, and the food was delicious. I am not entirely fond of sushi far from shorelines and have had some awful experiences, but this location had delicious, fresh sushi.

The venue was relaxed and cool, something that was necessary as Ithaca was having an out of season heatwave, and it's spaced out enough that you don't feel like you're on top of one another and competing for space with other customers. There was a wide selection of meals and I feel that, overall, we'll be returning to this location and it will be our sushi spot of choice.

Hibachi show was cool/good.  Waitresses very nice and friendly, loved the kids and were good with them.  Drinks weren't good and the noodles were basically that of angel hair pasta.  Not your typical noodles you expect from a hibachi to be honest.  The lobster salad roll and kani salad roll were so good.  As were the gyoza dumplings.  Shumai was pretty standard.  A cool place in the area for hibachi.  Could easily be passed if not familiar with the area.

Been to this place a couple of times. I like the hibachi dinner but is slightly overpriced in my opinion.

This time I decided to go for the sushi. Our server was very patient and helped us out. We order six different types of sushi rolls to share. My favorites were the sweet potato and the Philadelphia rolls.
